Owutu police have charged a middle-aged man Ajisafe Solomon and his sister Ajayi Ayomide before an Ikorodu magistrates court over allegations of wife battering and sodomy.
The accused were arraigned on a three count charge of inflicting bodily harm and conspiracy to commit sodomy.
According to the police, the accused conspired and inflicted grave bodily harm on Solomon’s wife Opeyemi Amuda, 25, by inserting a bottle of Tubor beer and pepper in the victim’s vagina which made her run mad.
The charge further read that the accused used a cane to inflict severe injuries on the victim’s body thereby committing assault which contravenes Section 409 of Lagos state law.
Amuda has since had a mental collapse following the severe beating she received from her husband and her sister-in-law.
It was gathered that the incident happened at number 9 Aminu Toyin Street Igbo-Olumo on June 19 when Amuda’s husband Solomon Ajisafe reprimanded her for allegedly insulting his mother.
According to the residents, Solomon with his siblings allegedly poured ground pepper and inserted a Tubor beer bottle in Amuda’s private part over allegations that she committed adultery and had the effrontery to fight her mother-in-law.
Deacon Obatungashe Adebayo, the coordinator of Women Arise Initiative at Igbo Olumo stated that the accused will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“This is a very sad development. It is just like the case of the Ejigbo sodomy and we wonder why they will go this far to torture somebody. I saw the victim and she is in a very bad shape. She has ran mad. She is defecting and urinating on herself.
When she was brought to the court, she could not say any sensible word and she defected all over her body.
We are going to follow this case as Dr. Joe-Oke Odumakin our President has taken interest in the case and she has condemned this ugly act. We will ensure that others involved in treating this woman like an animal will be made to face the full wrath of the law”, he said.
It was reported that the police have begun a manhunt for Solomon’s mother, who is said to be a prophetess in a white garment church.
The magistrate Mrs Afeez remanded the accused in prison and ordered that the victim be taken to a rehabilitation centre for three months.
The case was adjourned to July 15, 2015.
